George Egg cooks everywhere: live on stage at Glastonbury, the Edinburgh Fringe and at festivals as far afield as Estonia and New Zealand; all because he started making food in hotel rooms and with power tools for fun. Lockdown saw him embark on a new project, ‘Snack Hacker‘, a series of Instagram cooking videos where he makes dishes using often over-looked junk food, but with an innovative and often gourmet twist.
The videos lead to him winning Content Creator of the Year at the 2024 Fortnum & Masons Food and Drink Awards. He’s cooked on BBC R4’s ‘Loose Ends’, presented an episode of ‘the Food Programme’ and appeared on TV’s ‘This Morning’ and ‘Steph’s Packed Lunch’. You can also hear him on Craig Charles’ BBC6 Music show where he’s the ‘resident snack hacker’ offering the listeners a new idea every Monday.
George is joined by fellow award-winner Tim Hayward, F&M’s Restaurant Writer of the Year.
