We can all enjoy the charm of a kitchen garden come September, thanks to support from Abergavenny Town Council. Creative stitchers, under the tuition of artist/designer Bettina Reeves, are making their own scaled-up kitchen garden to decorate the rafters of Abergavenny’s Market Hall and celebrate the many local organic veg initiatives that have sprung up in the area recently. On display all year round, the fruit & veg of their labours will also be enjoyed by thousands over the 25th anniversary Festival weekend.
A kitchen garden is well-planned and makes good use of every bit of ground. Charmingly abundant in season, but not too tidy. A runaway climber. Seeds sown in a row. Maybe a herb patch. Flowers for in-between spaces. Something scented. A sunny spot for your cat.
Want to have a go yourself? We will have exhibitors selling seeds, plants and tools. They’ll be happy to share their know-how. Prints of Bettina’s gorgeous designs will be on sale, but you can also buy prints off her website
