Penwythnos yr Ŵyl / Festival weekend
21–22 Medi / 21–22 September
Popeth am Fwyd / All About Food
Croeso / Welcome!
Although I’m new to the team, my whole family have been avid festival-goers for many years and love the amazing atmosphere and diversity of experiences on offer. This year will be no exception. The brilliant Festival team has put together an exciting and provocative programme for this our 15th year.
The Abergavenny Food Festival is one of the biggest and best-known in the UK with a great reputation for hospitality, fun and feasting. The Festival is embedded in the centre of the town, so there’s unique sense of place which makes the event really special. Never been before? Then do join us this September and discover its particular magic for yourself.
Come rain or shine around two hundred exhibitors will set up shop in the five market venues and central streets. Take a leisurely stroll. Get talking to our producers. They’re passionate about what they make and how they make it. There’s an unparalleled range of food and drink on offer.
Hola! Alongside exhibitors from Wales, the Marches and elsewhere in the UK, we are also bringing a taste of Spain to the Festival this year. We look forward to welcoming some producers from one of Europe’s greatest City Markets - La Boqueria in Barcelona.
Having a family I know how expensive a day out can be. That’s why we’re continuing to let your children (if under 16) in for free. There’s loads for them to do. Show them that food is fun. There are drop-in workshops at the Children’s Food Academy at the Castle (sponsored by Organic Centre Wales), and they’ll be so excited to know that CBBCs terrific Stefan Gates is bringing is his spectacular live show to Abergavenny - including edible bugs and big explosions.
We’ve a fantastic guest performer line-up for our individually ticketed masterclasses, tutored tastings and talks, including Rick Stein, Caroline Conran and Magnus Nilsson. And party animals amongst you can play dress-up in the evening for our Great Gatsby Fanfare dinner with live jazz; or come to the enchanted party at the Castle complete with unmissable bands, dancing and fireworks.
Hope that whets your appetite. If you only go to one festival this year then make it this one. I bet like me you'll be back every year after that - although you don't have to go to the extremes I did and end up working here! Take the time to view the full programme at a glance and then click through for more detail and to book online. Wishing you all great festival. See you in September.
